Staying on top of your child's attendance just got a lot easier.

Starting Wednesday, September 2nd, Brooke County Schools will be using a new text-based system to keep you informed when your child is absent — and to make it simple for you to respond, ask questions, and share notes, all without a phone call.

Here's what's new:
You'll receive a text when your child is absent. A message will come from 1-304-944-1087. Save this number in your contacts so you never miss it.

You can text back directly. Reply to confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question. It's that simple.

You can send photos of notes by text. Need to submit a parent note or a doctor's note? Just take a photo and text it to the same number — no need to drop anything off at the office.

You can proactively text us. Know that your child will be absent? Send us a text to 1-304-944-1087 and we’ll update the record accordingly.

The texts are powered by our AI attendance assistant, and every response goes directly to our attendance team at BHS and your child's record is updated accordingly.

The Brooke High School cross country team competed at the Autumn Classic in St. Marys, WV today. Sophomore Elizabeth Edgell placed 15th out of 217 female runners with a time of 20:03, and senior Gavin Scott placed 9th out of 240 male runners with a time of 16:51.

Good evening, Bruins! Welcome back to Brooke High School and the start of the 2026–2027 school year! Our doors will open at 7:00 a.m., and students will enter the building and report directly to homeroom to begin the day. Due to predicted weather tomorrow morning, we are moving Senior Sunrise to Friday, August 21st. We are excited to have everyone back in the building. Let’s bring the energy, make good choices, support one another, and make it a great first day at Brooke High School!

Good evening, This is a friendly reminder that our Brooke High School freshman and new student orientation is this coming Monday, August 17th at 5:00pm starting in the auditorium. This is a great opportunity for all students to walk their schedules, orient themselves with the building, practice locker combinations, and say hello to staff. Students in grades 10-12 are welcome from 6-7pm. The first day of school is this coming Thursday, August 20th. We are excited to see everyone back and for what is sure to be a great year ahead!

We are excited to announce that schedules were mailed out thia past Wednesday to the student's primary address on file. Multiple informational documents were included in the mailings including a Welcome Memo, Schedule Change Information, 26-27 Dates to Remember, Student Profile pages, and a blank Medical Alert Form. Our updated handbook will be available on the BHS website next week.

Due to the water being turned off at BHS tomorrow, the Dance Team will now have its next tryout on Thursday, June 4th from 3:30-5 pm. Please make a note of the change. Saturday will be as scheduled from 10am-noon. Thank you!!

There is a change for the 2nd Tryout for BHS Dance Team dates. The tryout on Wednesday,from 3:30-5 will be moved to Thursday at the same time. This is due to the water being shut off in the building for the current plumbing project. Saturday will still be from 10am- noon. Seniors — the week you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived! Please review the following important reminders regarding events for the Class of 2026.

Graduation Practice

Graduation practice will take place on Wednesday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Main Gym due to rain in the forecast. Students should park in the Wellness Center lot. Please do not wear caps and gowns to practice.
Please make every effort to attend so you are fully prepared for Thursday’s ceremony.
We will also be collecting outstanding items including Winbooks, chargers, textbooks, and parking passes.

Baccalaureate Program

The Baccalaureate Program will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rick Taylor Auditorium. This optional, non-denominational program celebrates our graduates.
Students should arrive by 6:30 p.m. and report directly to the library. Please wear your caps and gowns.

Commencement Ceremony

The Class of 2026 Commencement Ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Brooke Memorial Stadium. Guests will not need tickets to attend graduation in the stadium.
Graduates should arrive by 6:00 p.m., wearing caps and gowns, and report to the tennis court area for lineup. Fireworks will follow the ceremony.

The members of our BHS FCA will be hosting a non-denominational Baccalaureate service for the Class of 2026 on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Seniors are asked to wear their graduation regalia and report to Room 520 by 6:30 PM. All members of the community are invited and encouraged to attend as we come together to honor and celebrate the graduating Class of 2026.

Just for clarification..... Scholarship Assembly for tomorrow will be in the BHS Gymnasium at 10:00am.

Good evening, Class of 2026 seniors and families, Here are a few reminders as we near graduation. All senior WinBooks, chargers, and parking passes must be returned by this Friday, May 22nd. Lockers must be cleaned out prior to the last day of school. All seniors must complete and fulfill graduation requirements by 3:00pm this Friday, May 22nd in order to participate in commencement exercises next Thursday. Commencement practice will be held at Brooke Memorial Stadium next Wednesday, May 27th at 11am weather permitting. State Bound!!!

2026 WVSSAC Track and Field 👇🏼

Tomorrow is Brooke High School’s Kennywood Fieldtrip for qualifying students who have returned permission slips. School lunches will be provided if preordered. Students will depart BHS tomorrow morning and return to campus between 8 and 8:30pm. Students attending the trip MUST ride the bus both up and back with the school. No exceptions! Students are asked to either wear a Brooke shirt or sport their favorite green and gold. We look forward to an exciting and fun day at the park!

This is a reminder that there is no school tomorrow for Tuesday, May 12th in observance of Election Day. Don't forget our softball team begins their quest for a state tournament bid at 5:00pm. Baseball is also at home taking on Shenandoah at 5:00pm in their final regular season game.
