The 2024 Brooke High School CTE & Career Fair was a great success! Outback 8th, 9th, & 10th grade students had the opportunity to visit the CTE Fair while 11th and 12th Grade students met with 45 local employers!

This week’s 106.3 The River’s Dee Jay’s BBQ Ribs & Grill High School Athlete of the Week is Brooke 215 pound wrestler Tyler Wise. Tyler recently picked up his 100th career win with two victories during a tri-match with Steubenville and Weir High. Tyler received a plaque from Tri-Area Trophies in Weirton and a Dee Jay’s gift card. Congratulations to Tyler Wise from 106.3 The River!

Congratulations Grace Huntzinger and Dameon Rea, students of the Therapeutic Services program, completed 65 classroom/lab education hours and 55 hours of clinical training at Brightwood Nursing home to qualify for CNA certification. They both passed with flying colors!! They plan to further their education in Nursing after graduation.

Students who meet the following criteria are exempt from their exams: 1. No Out of School Suspensions 2. 3 or fewer unexcused absences 3. Hold an A or B in the course for the semester Students who are not exempt from exams are only required to be in school during the time of their exams. Students may leave after their exams with parent permission and an out of building pass. If students are not able to leave early, they will simply follow their normal class schedule. Finally, Thursday is strictly reserved for students who need to make up an exam. Students who are exam-exempt or have completed all of their exams are not required to attend school.

♻️💚Congratulations to BHS sophomore Lyla Van Horn , state winner of the Recycling Coalition of WV ‘s Freedom Contest in the Grades 9-12 category. The contest challenged students to explore the theme, “It All Comes Back to You.” The slogan presents multiple messages; a recycled product or material can return to consumers as another product; recycling comes back to consumers as an improved environment; and it is everyone’s responsibility to recycle. The Coalition’s annual “Freedom Contest” allows students the freedom to express that theme any way they wish: an essay or poem, painting or drawing, song or video. In response to the contest, Lyla created a bouquet of flowers made of recycled music records and attached an accompanying written piece explaining what the theme and her art meant to her. Paul Hayes (Recycing Coalition of WV) and JoAnn Snoderly (DEP Youth Environmental Program Coordinator) popped in to Brooke High School today to present Lyla with a certificate of achievement and monetary award. This is the 2nd year in a row a Brooke High School student has won the competition (and it just so happens to have been won by Lyla’s brother, Josh, last year)! We are so proud! 👏

The Brooke High Dance classes attended the Nutcracker Ballet today at the Benedum theater in Pittsburgh. Thank you to Mario Dibias, Emily Beall, and Antionette Perkins for making this experience possible!!

2023 Brooke High School Turkey Bowl was a fundraiser for the FBLA State Leadership Conference and Events! This year’s 2023 Turkey Bowl Champs were the Red team!

💚💛🤖 This weekend Brooke Robotics and Drone teams hosted back to back tournaments. Wheeling Park won for robotics and Brooke won for drones. 🤖💛💚
